
The Young Professionals (YPs) is a membership division of the Southern Center for International Studies (SCIS), which provides opportunities for young professionals to develop their interest in and understanding of international issues.
Member Profile
The Young Professionals (YPs) are comprised of individuals in their 20s and 30s from a diverse background of professionals careers including, business, media, non-profit, education, government, and law. They represent emerging leaders throughout the city of Atlanta who use YP membership as an opportunity to learn about international affairs, practice leadership skills, socialize, and network. Membership is open to interested young professionals up to age 39 at a cost of $50 per year.
Mission
The mission of the Young Professionals program is to internationalize the thinking of young professionals, balancing a responsibility to be an educational resource, an avenue for career development and a social outlet for globally minded young professionals.
Events
For upcoming YP events, please check our calendar. For networking, to offer feedback on events, share thoughts on international issues, as well as stay in touch with friends and colleagues spread out across the globe, visit our separate YP website. YP activities include:
- Monthly general membership and social meetings at SCIS and at locations around Atlanta - 1st Wednesday of every month
- Quarterly "Dine & Discover" dinners and presentations at local ethnic restaurants
- Monthly briefings at SCIS on international issues followed by a reception
- Yearly "Globalizing Your Career" briefing at SCIS
- Quarterly "International Film Night" for Young Professionals Members only
- Yearly participation in the Hong Kong dragon boat race on Lake Lanier.
