The Southern
Center for International Studies is located in the Goodrum House
on nearly four acres in the heart of the Buckhead district of Atlanta,
Georgia. This exceptional home in its park-like setting provides
a unique, intimate backdrop for hosting corporate and private events.
The Goodrum
House, designed by Philip Shutze in 1929, is considered one of the
finest examples of English Regency architecture in the United States.
Built by the same architect, artists and artisans as Atlanta's Swan
House, the Goodrum House has extraordinary original carved woodwork,
chinoiserie murals and decorative painting (see
photos below).
The Southern
Center has carefully preserved and maintained the house, keeping
the ground floor much as it was in 1929.
The Southern
Center for International Studies is located at 320 West Paces Ferry
Road NW, approximately seven miles from downtown Atlanta and one
block from the Georgia Governors Mansion. Driving directions to
the Southern Center can be found here.
The ground
floor public rooms are available for a variety of special events
from 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday-Friday and at any time during
the weekends. The Center is closed during national holidays.
The Southern
Center for International Studies facilities are available for a
broad range of corporate and private events. Political and religious
events are prohibited.
The Southern
Center parking lot will hold a maximum of 30 cars. On-street parking
along Arden Road is also available. Valet parking through an approved
service may be used for large groups.
Users of the
facility may retain their favorite caterer for food and beverage
service. The Southern Center requires that all caterers be insured.
Depending on
the type of event and the rooms used the Center can accommodate
up to 200 guests at a cocktail reception and up to 80 people for
an auditorium style event. Usage fees range from $1,700 for small
meetings to $3,900 for larger receptions. A 25 percent deposit,
along with a signed contract, secures a date for an event.
