Description: One-hour television programs produced from annual conference proceedings with former Secretaries of State and Defense are shown on PBS stations nationwide. During each conference, a private dinner and luncheon including the sponsors is held in honor of the Secretaries.

Seminars, Briefings and Meetings
Description: Annual seminars and briefings with foreign diplomats and senior government officials, business leaders, and academics covering the regions of Latin America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. Private dinners or luncheons including the sponsors are usually held in honor of the speakers.

Development and Production of The World in Transition Series, a Ten-part Series of Multimedia Educational Materials
Description: Each package, consisting of a 200-page instructor's guide and a one-hour videotape, focuses on a region of the world. Seven packages have been completed. To complete the series, packages on South Asia, North America, and global issues will be produced in the future. Cost of initial development of each package ranges from $350,000 to $500,000.

Workshops for High- and Middle School Social Studies Teachers in the 50 States
Description: One-, two-, or three-day workshops using The World in Transition Series. Cooperating local and national organizations include World Affairs Councils, state departments of education, various school districts, state geographic alliances and state Social Studies Councils.

The sponsor will be recognized on the SCIS Web site. If desired, sponsors may furnish their logo, which can serve as a link to the sponsor's Web site during the sponsorship period. The periods of sponsorship are:

Research Associates, Library and Internships
Description: Each year, up to 30 interns ranging from high school students to doctorate candidates work in the SCIS research library for periods of three months to one year.

The Southern Center for International Studies is an educational, nonprofit organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) and described in section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii) of the Internal Revenue Code.
