The World in Transition Series Updates

To ensure the World in Transition series stays current, the Southern Center updates the units regularly on this Web site. These updates are keyed into the essays and lesson plans in each book so that educators can use the new information immediately in their classrooms. The essay updates listed below can also serve as stand alone pieces for those interested in understanding the ongoing dynamics in the various world regions. The charts, graphs, maps, and tables in the updates are made available in full-page form so that transparencies and/or handouts can be prepared for classroom or other use. Please send questions and comments to the SCIS Research Director, Dr. Christopher L. Brown.

To assist Georgia-based teachers using the World in Transition materials to meet Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), we've prepared a simple chart matching GPS requirements to the lessons in each volume in the series.

The updates are presented in PDF format, which requires the free Adobe® Acrobat ® Reader TM. Download Acrobat ® here.

Although the paper has no official status, it has been acknowledged by the parties as being a relatively fair description of the outcome of the negotiations on the permanent status issues at Taba.)
